Tool Shed

The garden has a tool shed, which contains most gardening tools you’ll need. The shed is locked with a code lock, and the code for the lock is given to gardeners. Remember to return the tools after you have finished using them! Contents of the shed include for example:

  • Watering cans
  • Spades
  • Shovels
  • Buckets
  • Hoes
  • Wheelbarrow

Water

The garden has water access provided by the Aalto University. The water taps will be turned on in the Spring when the growth season begins, and closed for the winter.

Gardening Boxes

Each gardening plot has its own tool or gardening box with a latch to lock it with your own lock. The boxes are not fully animal-proof, so protect your seeds and other edible supplies accordingly. Please don’t store tools from the common tool shed in your boxes, because other gardeners need them too!

Compost

The garden has 6 big compost piles in metal cages. Usually one or two of them has ready soil for your use, while others are turning gardening waste into soil for the next season. Please put your gardening waste to the composts, except weeds and diseased plants which would spoil the soil.

Trash

There are two small round trash cans next to entrances to garden plots. In addition, during growth season, there is a big black trash bin for all non-compostable trash. Please put your pruned weeds, empty soil bags and picnic trash to this big trash bin!
